Xiaomi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 launches in China for $395

Xiaomi has expanded its Mi Home robot vacuum range with a new model. One of the headline upgrades on the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 is stronger suction: it is now rated at 28,000 Pa, up from 23,000 Pa on the Mop 6 Pro. In theory, that increase should make it better at lifting fine dust and debris, particularly from carpets.

The bigger shift, however, is in how it handles mopping. Xiaomi has moved away from rotating pads and instead uses a roller mopping system. The roller is kept continuously wet with clean water, while a built-in scraper collects the dirt, which should help prevent grime from being spread around during cleaning.

Brushes, size and obstacle avoidance

Alongside the main brush, the robot uses two extendable side brushes designed to reach into corners and along edges more effectively. It is fairly slim at 90 mm thick, so it should fit under most furniture.

For navigation, it relies on built-in cameras for obstacle detection, with Xiaomi claiming it can recognise up to 220 types of objects. It is also said to be able to cross small thresholds up to 40 mm high.

Docking station maintenance and app control

The dock takes care of some routine upkeep. It supports washing the roller with hot water at 80°C, and the tray can be removed for cleaning. As with other Xiaomi smart devices, the robot can be controlled via the app and integrated into a wider smart home setup.

In China, the vacuum is priced at 2,699 yuan (around $395), which makes it cheaper than the Pro model.
