Moisture under the sink is a frequent issue in many homes, but it often goes unnoticed until mould appears or the musty smell becomes stronger. In most cases, that cupboard gets very little ventilation and ends up trapping water vapour, tiny splashes and minor, hard-to-spot leaks.   3. Air circulation – leaving the doors open for a few minutes each day significantly reduces trapped damp.
  4. Absorbent mat or liner – cotton cloths or liners soak up splashes and can be washed and dried in the sun.
  5. Periodic leak checks – keeping an eye on the trap and connections helps prevent silent seepage that feeds mould.

When you keep up these habits with some regularity, the area under the sink usually stays drier and healthier, lowering the risk of damage to the cabinet and making it easier to spot any more serious issue before it gets worse.
