Anyone who enjoys cooking knows what happens sooner or later: after a few months, even good-quality kitchen towels start to look grey, greasy and, frankly, a bit unhygienic. Detergents promise the world, often cost a fair bit, and yet the stains stubbornly refuse to shift. In many homes, though, the answer has been sitting in the cleaning cupboard all along: a plain white powder that delivers what bleach and similar products often only claim to do.
