Introductory price set at $74
Xiaomi has unveiled the Mijia Garment Steamer 2 on its Youpin platform. The crowdfunding drive launches on 6 April: the regular price is 599 yuan (US$86), while the campaign introduces an early price of 509 yuan (US$74).
Steam performance and reach
The Mijia Garment Steamer 2 delivers 120 g/min of steam, designed to tackle stubborn creases by penetrating fabric more deeply. It uses a 500 kPa electromagnetic pump to produce a strong, consistent steam output, with a spray reach of up to 150 cm-suited to vertical steaming and awkward-to-access areas.
Heating system, warm-up time, and fabric presets
The steamer relies on a dual heating set-up, with separate boilers for the main unit and the iron, generating dry steam at a microscopic concentration to help prevent clothes from becoming damp. It heats up in just 65 seconds, reducing waiting time.
Xiaomi has included six dedicated ironing modes for common fabrics:
- Cotton - 145°C
- Silk - 110°C
- Synthetic fibres - 125°C
- Linen - 160°C
- Blended fabrics - 115°C
- Wool - 130°C
The device also features NTC temperature control technology to keep heating stable and help avoid fabric damage.
Ironing plate, water tank, and ironing options
The Mijia Garment Steamer 2 comes with an 8.75-inch (about 22.2 cm) ceramic-coated ironing plate. A visible water tank is said to support ironing up to 15 items of clothing, depending on the fabric type. It supports both dry ironing for shaping and damp/steam ironing for removing deeper creases.
Xiaomi states that the steamer provides 99.99% sterilisation and 100% mite elimination.
