A surprisingly simple trick can make your drive feel calm and unhurried.
Anyone who gets into the car early on a winter morning knows the annoying routine: the engine is running, the ice scraper is already on the seat, yet the inside of the windscreen has turned completely milky. The heater is blowing, your hands are freezing, and the day’s schedule is ticking away. The good news is that there are a few genuinely straightforward ways to cut down fogged-up windows - and one of them really does involve shaving foam.
Why the windscreen fogs up in winter in the first place
Before you try any tricks, it helps to understand what’s happening. The moisture doesn’t appear by magic - it’s already in the car:
- wet shoes, coats and umbrellas
- breath from the driver and passengers
- a poor or clogged cabin filter
- damp caused by leaking seals or wet carpets
