A dishwasher is often treated as the kitchen’s hygiene hero: load the plates, press a button, and everything comes out clean-or so we hope. However, both newer and older studies paint a more complicated picture. In almost every household machine, stubborn biofilms made up of bacteria and fungi can develop. The good news is that a few targeted actions can significantly reduce the microbial load.
