If you’re standing at the window every morning with a cloth and kitchen roll, you’re only dealing with the symptom. Earlier generations knew a simple trick that can prevent condensation almost entirely - using something found in practically every home.
Why windows keep misting up in winter
When it’s bitterly cold outside but the heating is on indoors, two conditions collide: warm, moisture-laden indoor air meets freezing glass. As soon as the air touches that cold surface, it cools rapidly, can no longer hold as much moisture, and the water vapour turns into droplets on the pane. Physicists call this point the dew point.
The fallout isn’t just an eyesore. Moisture:
- seeps into timber frames and uPVC profiles,
